Ukuva iAfrica means “The sense of Africa” and was established in March 1996 when the traveler finally reached Cape Town (South Africa). The Ukuva look was inspired by the culture of the Ndebele: Tribal women used to wear metal rings, which symbolize the woman’s status in society.
A well known wire-artist (Joe Mufundi) made the wire bottle decorations. The wire necks and raffia tassles are hand made.
Turqle Trading adopted the Ukuva iAfrica brand in January 2012.
